A three-day ‘Rashtra Raksha Samarpan Parv’ in Uttar Pradesh’s Jhansi on Wednesday saw the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) demonstrate offensive capabilities of its drone swarms, according to an official statement.
According to the announcement, the DRDO Young Scientist Laboratory for Asymmetric Technologies has been researching on drone swarm technologies to improve asymmetric warfare capabilities.
“During Rashtriya Raksha Samarpan Parv during Jhansi Jalsa, the DRDO exhibited fully operational decentralised UAV (unmanned aerial vehicle) swarm comprising of 25 drones flying coherently with minimal human involvement,” it said.
The exhibition highlighted the drones’ “distributive sensing, distributive decision making, reconfigurable path planning, and autonomous assault formations,” according to the press release.
In Jhansi, the swarm enacted real-time scenarios such as target encirclement, coordinated attack, and others, according to the report.
The three-day celebration, which will climax on Rani Lakshmi Bai’s 193rd birthday, began on Wednesday in Jhansi.
